Ketamine is a prescription-only medicine that may be prescribed off-label by our medical team following a comprehensive assessment to assist in the psychotherapy.
ABOUT DR DEVANY
Throughout my career as a consultant surgeon, I have been responsible for making complex decisions in situations where patient safety matters most.
At The Emerge Clinic, my role is simple: to ensure that every patient is medically suitable for treatment, that risks are carefully considered, and that ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is delivered safely and responsibly.
Over the years, I have seen how profoundly people’s lives can be affected by depression, trauma and psychological suffering. I believe patients deserve access to innovative treatments when conventional approaches have not been enough.
MY MISSION
Ketamine is a powerful medicine. Used appropriately, it has the potential to help people who have spent years feeling stuck. Used carelessly, it can create unnecessary risk.
My role is to ensure that every patient is assessed thoroughly and that treatment is delivered within a safe, medically governed framework.
MY STORY
I have worked with ketamine for more than fifteen years within surgical practice, where it is often used in patients with significant medical complexity.
When I began learning more about the growing evidence for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, I was struck not only by the science, but by the people behind it—individuals who had often exhausted every other option.
I believe innovation in medicine matters. I also believe it must be delivered thoughtfully, ethically and with appropriate safeguards.
MY APPROACH
Every patient undergoes a detailed medical assessment before treatment is considered.
My responsibility is to understand potential risks, review medical history and ensure ketamine is prescribed appropriately.
Safety is not a barrier to treatment—it is what makes treatment possible.
MY EXPERIENCE
Ketamine has formed part of my clinical work for many years, often in situations where careful monitoring and medical decision-making are essential.
Seeing its application within mental health has been one of the most exciting developments of my career.
I remain optimistic about its future, while maintaining the same standards of safety and clinical governance that have guided my practice throughout my career.

A PERSONAL NOTE
Behind every enquiry is a person who has usually spent a long time trying to get better.
My role at The Emerge Clinic is to ensure that treatment is both safe and appropriate, but one of the privileges of this work is seeing people begin to reconnect with parts of themselves they thought had been lost.
Throughout my career, I have worked in environments where careful decision-making matters. Those same principles guide my work here: compassion, safety and clinical responsibility.
While my role is primarily medical, I remain genuinely encouraged by what I have witnessed through ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and by the people who have trusted us with their care.
“
Innovation in medicine should always be guided by two questions: Is it safe? And does it genuinely help people? I believe ketamine-assisted psychotherapy can do both when delivered thoughtfully and responsibly.
