Ketamine is a prescription-only medicine that may be prescribed off-label by our medical team following a comprehensive assessment to assist in the psychotherapy.

ABOUT THE EMERGE CLINIC

Built carefully.
Governed responsibly.
Centred on patient safety.

The Emerge Clinic was developed over approximately 18 months before we treated our first patient. We built a medically governed clinical service designed around evidence, regulation and experience — because when it comes to powerful treatments like ketamine, the right foundation is everything.

WHY WE EXIST

Ketamine should never be treated as a stand-alone product.

Ketamine can be a powerful clinical tool, but its use should sit within a wider framework of careful screening, medical oversight, psychological support and ongoing review.

That is why The Emerge Clinic was designed as a structured clinical pathway rather than simply a place where ketamine is administered. Every decision is guided by suitability, safety and the individual needs of the person receiving treatment.

The aim is not simply to provide a medicine, but to create the conditions in which treatment can be delivered responsibly, thoughtfully and with appropriate support before, during and after each session.

OUR 18-MONTH DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

1

Clinical pathway design

Built around evidence, relevant clinical guidelines, and real-world experience in mental health care.

2

Multidisciplinary expertise

Bringing together medical, psychotherapeutic and operational specialisms to design safe, integrated care.

3

Protocols and safety systems

Developed comprehensive screening, monitoring and emergency procedures.

4

Regulatory approval

Secured licences, insurance and governance frameworks to support safe, compliant clinical practice.

REGULATION AND GOVERNANCE

CQC-registered clinical setting

The Emerge Clinic provides treatment within a CQC-registered clinical environment operated by our medical partner. This ensures that the regulated medical elements of the service are delivered within an established framework of clinical governance, safety and quality oversight.

Home Office controlled-drugs licence

Ketamine is stored, handled and administered within the clinic under the controlled-drug licence held by our licensed medical partner. This provides the statutory framework required for the safe governance of Schedule 2 medication within the clinical setting.

Professional indemnity insurance

The clinicians involved in your care maintain appropriate professional indemnity cover for their respective roles within the service, providing an additional layer of professional accountability and protection.

OUR CLINICAL TEAM

Two distinct clinical roles, working together

The Emerge Clinic brings together medical oversight and specialist psychotherapy within one structured treatment pathway.

Mr Adam Devany is responsible for medical assessment, prescribing, ketamine administration and medical safety. Paul Gibson is responsible for psychotherapeutic assessment, preparation, psychotherapy and integration.

The roles are deliberately separate, while communication between both clinicians helps ensure that treatment decisions take account of both medical safety and the individual’s psychological needs.

Mr Adam Devany

Medical Consultant & Lead Prescriber

Paul Gibson

Director and Psychotherapist

Clear professional boundaries. Medical prescribing and administration remain the responsibility of the medical practitioner. Psychological assessment, preparation, psychotherapy and integration remain the responsibility of the psychotherapist. Neither role is presented as a substitute for the other, and specialist input is sought where clinically required.

SPECIALIST TRAINING

Specialist Training and
Continuing Development

Our work is supported by ongoing professional development, specialist training, clinical supervision and engagement with emerging evidence in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and related areas of practice.

Adam's training & development

Paul's training & development

Both clinicians continue to undertake further education as the evidence base, clinical practice and professional guidance surrounding ketamine-assisted psychotherapy continue to develop. Planned development includes further NHS-associated ketamine-assisted psychotherapy training, attendance at international KAP conferences, ongoing specialist supervision and continued training in psychotherapy approaches relevant to ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.

WHO WE TREAT

Established, treatment-resistant conditions

The clinic is for people with established mental health diagnoses and documented treatment histories, where multiple evidence-based treatments have been tried without sufficient or lasting benefit. The clinic is not intended to provide first-line assessment or diagnosis of new or unexplained symptoms

Why a new psychiatric assessment isn't automatically duplicated

If you are already under the care of a psychiatrist or other relevant clinician, we review the information available from your existing treatment history and, with your consent, may liaise directly with them where clarification or additional clinical information is needed.

This avoids unnecessarily duplicating assessments where an established diagnosis and treatment history already exist, while ensuring that relevant medical and psychiatric information is considered before treatment proceeds.

Where the available information is incomplete, inconsistent or raises unresolved clinical concerns, we may request further specialist information or a new psychiatric assessment before deciding whether treatment is appropriate.

HOW SUITABILITY IS DECIDED

A staged assessment process

Our process is thorough and collaborative. Suitability is reviewed at each stage, and where treatment is not appropriate we will explain the reasons and, where possible, signpost you towards a suitable next step.

1

Initial clinical review

You complete a clinical questionnaire and provide relevant information about your diagnosis, treatment history and current circumstances.

2

Psychological assessment

A detailed assessment explores your history, goals, previous treatments, current difficulties and suitability for the psychotherapeutic element of the programme.

3

Medical assessment and review

The medical practitioner reviews your medical history, medications, relevant records and physical safety considerations.

4

Specialist liaison where needed

With your consent, we liaise with your existing psychiatrist, GP or other relevant clinician where clarification or specialist input is required.

5

Joint suitability review

The medical and psychotherapeutic findings are considered together to determine whether treatment is appropriate and whether any further information is needed.

6

Outcome & next steps

You receive a clear decision and, if suitable, a proposed treatment plan. If treatment is not appropriate, we will explain why and signpost you towards an appropriate next step where possible.

We do not supply ketamine
for home use.
And never have.

The Emerge Clinic does not supply ketamine for unsupervised home use in any form, including oral, nasal, lozenge or injectable preparations.

Ketamine is prescribed and administered only within the clinic, under direct medical supervision and within the appropriate controlled-drug governance framework.

This in-clinic model is a deliberate part of our approach to safety, monitoring and responsible treatment.

SAFETY DURING THE PROGRAMME

Careful monitoring.
Clear boundaries.
Rapid response if needed.

Your safety is considered throughout the programme. We combine structured clinical monitoring during treatment with clear follow-up arrangements, access to the clinical team during agreed hours, and defined escalation procedures if concerns arise.

Pre-session medical clearance

Screening, medical review and preparation before treatment.

Continuous clinical presence

Trained clinical staff remain present throughout ketamine administration and recovery.

Real-time monitoring

Physical observations and psychological wellbeing are monitored during treatment.

Integration support

Structured psychotherapeutic support between treatment sessions.

Access to the clinical team

Clear contact arrangements for questions or concerns arising during the programme.

Crisis protocols

Defined escalation and emergency procedures where urgent care is required.

WHAT WE WILL NEVER PROMISE

WHAT THE CLINIC WILL NOT DO

WORKING WITH EXISTING CLINICIANS

We work alongside your existing care team.

Where appropriate, and with your consent, we liaise with your GP, psychiatrist or other treating clinician to clarify relevant history, coordinate care and support safe decision-making.

PROTECTING PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY

Your privacy is fundamental.

We handle personal and clinical information in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements and clinical governance standards. Information is stored securely and shared only where there is a lawful and appropriate basis to do so.

OUR CLINICAL PRINCIPLES
